* In 2014 the river did not run to the ocean, so no adult steelhead were able to migrate up the river and spawn. CRSA volunteers spent 10 hours over 6 days checking all four tributaries to see if any juveniles were still present and found none.
† In 2015 only 17 adult steelhead were believed to have entered the Carmel River and only seven passed over San Clemente Dam. No spawning was observed in any of the tributaries. CRSA volunteers spent 18 hours over 6 days monitoring the tributaries and saw no spawning nest or any juveniles so no rescues were performed. In 2015, as in 2013 and 2014, CRSA was prevented from rescuing from the mainstream of the Carmel River.
